ABOUT PARCHMENT TRUST

Parchment Trust is a registered charity serving people with Autism, learning and physical disabilities. It seeks to raise the profile of people with disabilities so that they are viewed as valued members of society.

We provide services that respond to individual needs, implementing personalised support and providing opportunities for training, occupation and access to the community. Parchment Trust seeks to uphold Christian principles in every area of the organisation. We welcome and support service users and staff of all faiths and none.

OUR AIMS AND VALUES

Our Charitable Objects are:

the relief of persons with physical, mental and learning disabilities by the provision of residential, occupational and day care activities and all other activities that are conducive to the attainment of this object.

Our Values are:

that everyone should be equal in freedom, dignity and rights and we value and respect everyone equally. We put people at the centre of everything we do because we believe that everyone has the right to happiness, wellbeing and self-esteem.

Our Purpose is:

to enrich the lives of people with disabilities so that they can take as full a place in society as possible. We do this by offering an environment where they are loved, respected and valued, where they can have fun, build relationships and engage in activities that add meaning and purpose to their lives.

Parchment Trust is committed to enabling everyone with whom it works to maximise their potential as valued members of society. In order to do this, the Trust will encourage and help those for whom it provides service to enable them to experience the same freedom and choice in their lifestyles as those without a disability.

OUR VISION

The Trust’s services have been built on and support the concept of John O’Brien’s five major service accomplishments:

Community Presence: people should live, work and spend their leisure time in the community

Community Participation: the service should offer real opportunities and ways for people with disability to participate in their local community and widen their network of personal relationships

Choice: the service should act as a creator and provider of maximum opportunity and choice and encourage the exercise of that choice

Competence: the service should always help and encourage people with disability to learn new skills and take on as much responsibility for themselves as possible

Respect: the service should strive to enhance the reputation of people with disability and present them in good light to others, so that they are viewed as having a valued role in the community and society

Integral to these outcomes is our desire for the present and future happiness and wellbeing of all those who work with Parchment Trust, both service users and staff. To achieve this, we will:

  • encourage the development of positive relationships and friendships

  • support social, emotional and spiritual development

  • promote healthy lifestyles

  • agree and work towards meaningful outcomes that can be measured
