Goodbye, Andrew

This week we say a fond farewell to Andrew, our CEO of nearly 30 years. We wish him all the best in his retirement, and will remember him dearly.

Andrew's Leaving Statement:

As many of you will already know, I have decided that the time is right for me to retire and so I will leave at Christmas. Thank you all for your cards and good wishes.

My time at Parchment Trust began long ago, when in 1993, a small number of Hastings parents with children and young people with learning and physical disabilities had a vision. That vision was to provide support to these young people with disabilities in order to maximise their choice, independence, health and well-being.

It was my privilege to lead the process of making that vision a reality. The result is Parchment Trust. From a Year 1 (1994) budget of just £46,000, with 4 service users and 2 staff, we have grown to be an organisation serving more than 185 local people with disabilities, their families and circles of support. We now employ  more than 120 staff and this year’s budget is some £3.7 million.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported the organisation generally and me personally throughout the past three decades – your support has been invaluable. Special thanks must go to all staff, especially those who themselves have served Parchment Trust for more than 20 years, and to the Trust board for allowing me the privilege of serving. I am delighted that we have appointed Sara as my successor – I know that she will do a superb job and I wish her every success.

I leave with mixed feelings – an appreciation that I am going to miss everyone terribly but with the fondest memories imaginable.

Thank you again.

Andrew

From everyone at Parchment Trust, have a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year,

We also look forward to getting to know Sara, who is taking the helm as our new CEO going forward.
