It has been a busy week at the Co-op, with many exciting events occurring. As well as the usual activities the ladies made scones, the fishing group reassembled after their winter break and Joe took a small group to see the next Lego Batman film.
Girls group @ Diane's
Diane and Kathy are regular volunteers here, who help out with the ladies craft group. Both Diane and Kathy have been a part of the Parchment family for many years, and are much loved by both staff and service users. The ladies craft group went culinary this week, with a trip to Diane's house to make scones. Many people were curious to see Diane's house and enjoyed the chance to express themselves through the art of scone making.
Joe's Lego Batman Trip - written by Charlie
'What happened? There was about 4 or 5 of us who went. There was a lot of fighting, a lot of arguing and a lot of whacking heads together. There were subtitles on the bottom of the screen and there was a guy who was talking through a bit of it, which was very annoying. The best bit of the film was probably where Batman was fighting with the Joker and the Joker said to him ‘I am your favourite enemy’ or something like that!' - Charlie
Ivan at the Cooperative
Where possible we encourage our service users to take on work placements. On Wednesday morning we visited the Cooperative on Battle Road, St Leonard's on sea where Ivan has worked for the past couple of months. Ivan reports that he thoroughly enjoys his time there and that the staff have been very kind.
As mentioned briefly on last weeks blog, we held a DVD night last Friday, where we watched Star Wars - The Force Awakens.
'The first thing we did was to wait for Steven to arrive because then we can go get food. Half the people got pizzas and half of them got kebabs and burgers. I got a burger – like Simon. We had to walk to the shop, get the food and then we had to walk all the way back again. It started snowing but it didn’t settle which was terrible. We had to walk back and we all sat round a big table kind of thing. We had to clean up afterwards because we had to leave it tidy. The film was interesting. It was different to some films we have done, the last one I did was a zombie one and this one was very different. It was a good evening wasn’t it.' – Nick
Anthony Thorpe – Fishing
This Wednesday the fishing group restarted after its winter hiatus. Anthony is a regular.
'On Wednesday a group of friends go fishing at Clive Vale. When we arrive at the pond I help Gary to set up the fishing rods and help to put the bread on the hooks and cast the rods in the pond. My best catch has been a 7.1/2 LB common carp. I felt good about that.' - Anthony
That's all for this week folks, have a great weekend and we will be back next week!
