Commonly known as the Twisted Willow, or Corkscrew Willow, this deciduous tree is known for its bizarre contorted growing habits. Fast growing, Salix babylonica 'Tortuosa', soon produces growth that twists and turns like a corkscrew for no apparent reason, even the leaves will do the same. In spring, yellow catkins will appear on the bare branches before the bright green foliage makes an appearance. The branches of this plant are prized by flower arrangers as the strange, random shapes help add interest to the arrangement.
