This beautiful rare Japanese Tree Peony boasts startling double blooms in deep reddish pink. Unusually for a Japanese variety it is highly scented so make sure you plant where the sweet fragrance can be enjoyed. Unlike herbaceous Paeonia, that can be delicate, Tree Peonies are a hardy busy shrub with tough woody stems that allow the plant to survive the winter season. They prefer to be in dappled shade and generally require little pruning, keep well watered if you have them in a fully sunny position. This is one of the earliest blooming Peonies, flowering from April to July.
