All parts of the garden complex are wheelchair accessible. We have raised beds to enourage individual growing projets and to widen opportunities to people in wheelchairs with limited ability.
We actively encourage the green status of our site and make our own electricity, hot water and recycle rainwater through greywater flushing & watering.
Person Centreed Approaches - Meeting Individual Needs
We greatly value all of our trainees. We believe each individual has a unique contribution to make here and in the wider community.
Emphasis is placed upon our trainees working towards greater independence at their own pace. By taking account of skill level, personal interests, experience and aspirations and by encouraging a variety of activities, we aim to create a balance between purposeful occupation and a relaxed atmosphere.
Trainee reviews are annual and convened throughout the year to suit each individual. These provide an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme and allow service users to identify, discuss and agree future goals. All reviews provide an opportunity to further the development of each individual based on their own needs and wishes and the expression of these needs and wishes are encouraged at all times. Parents, carers, adult social care assessors and any other relevant persons may attend the reviews. Friary Gardeners has an active equal opportunities policy.
